London Stripe
In Japan, “London Stripe” refers to a pattern of parallel, equidistant stripes of identical width. This pattern originated from the striped shirts made as stage costumes by Turnbull & Asser, a British shirtmaker and royal warrant holder. The shirts were originally only sold to the upper class and became extremely popular. Turnbull & Asser rose to fame as the manufacture who made these vividly colored striped shirts fashionable, because until those days, English gentlemen’s fashion was purely monotone. The pattern is called “Block Stripe” in England and the United States.
These shorts feature little fabric loops. They were first added to the backs of shirts to appeal to Ivy League consumers.
They were called “locker loops” because the Ivy Leaguers could simply hang up their shirts in the locker room to keep them wrinkle-free.
The fly front features snap fasteners for quick and easy opening and closing. We have removed this everyday little stressor, so you can spend your day comfortably.
